How to start with AI

Start small. Prove it. Then scale.

Most businesses don't need an AI strategy deck. They need one workflow that saves real hours, then the confidence to do it again. Here's the path I take clients through.

  1. 1

    Find the friction

Map where your team loses time: research, writing, data entry, follow-up, reporting. The best first use cases are boring and repetitive.

  2. 2

    Pick one use case

Choose a single workflow with a clear owner and a number you can measure, like hours saved or responses per week.

  3. 3

    Pilot in 30 days

Start with tools you can turn on today. Set up prompts, templates and guardrails, and run it with real work, not a demo.

  4. 4

    Measure and scale

Keep what works, train the team, then move to the next workflow, or to custom agents once the basics are paying off.

Not sure where to begin? A strategy call is the first step. We'll look at how your business runs today and pick the one AI project most likely to pay off first.

AI tools

What AI tools are right for my business?

It depends on the job, not the hype. Start with what you need done, then match the tool to it. These are the categories most businesses use first.

Writing, research & analysis

General AI assistants

Drafting, summarizing, research and working through spreadsheets and documents. The place almost everyone starts.

Examples: Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini

Finding & reaching buyers

AI prospecting and outreach

Building target lists, researching accounts and running personalized email sequences at scale.

Examples: Apollo, Mailshake, HubSpot

Pipeline & reporting

AI built into your CRM

Forecasting, deal summaries and reporting inside the systems your team already uses.

Examples: Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho

Repetitive workflows

Automation and custom agents

Connecting your tools so routine tasks run on their own, or building an agent for a job unique to your business.

Examples: no-code automation, AI agents built on model APIs

Sensitive data

Private and on-prem AI

Running AI on your own hardware so customer, financial or regulated data never leaves the building.

Examples: AI workstations and local AI appliances

Being found

AI search visibility

Making sure your business shows up when buyers ask AI assistants for recommendations, not just when they search.

Examples: answer-engine and generative-search optimization

Five questions to ask before you buy

A tool that fits your team beats the most powerful one on the market.

  1. What specific task will this replace or speed up?
  2. Does it work with the tools and data we already have?
  3. Where does our data go, and who can see it?
  4. Who on the team will own it day to day?
  5. How will we know in 30 days whether it's working?
